East Woodhay
The parish of East Woodhay comprises of a number of villages, hamlets and houses, the largest village being Woolton Hill. Although in the borough of Basingstoke & Deane it is the furthest settlement from the centre of Basingstoke and the nearest town is Newbury which is about five miles to the north over the county boundary in Berkshire.
The Parish of East Woodhay dabbles its feet in the clear water of the River Enborne and has its head in the air at Pilot Hill (286 metres), the highest point in the county.
Woolton Hill took on a more suburban appearance with large housing developments during the second half of the 20th Century, changing the character of the area forever. The south and west of the parish retains the rural landscape that hopefully will last another thousand years.
